Food Security Impacts of Industrial Crop Expansion in Sub-Sahara Africa (FICESSA) (FY 2015-2017).

Funded by Belmont Forum, FICESSA was an interdisciplinary project which aimed to provide clear empirical evidence of how industrial crops compete for land with food crops in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the mechanisms through which this competition can affect food security, whether positively or negatively. We undertook studies at multiple spatial scales using various analytical tools to study past dynamics and explore future scenarios. FICESSA includes case studies in Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Guinea and Swaziland. Role: Co-Investigator (Postdoctoral Fellow)

Socio-ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes in Africa (SEPLS in Africa) (2015-2017).
